Works is not a 4-Letter Word

Finally, what I promised almost a month ago, my blog entry about “Works”!  :-)

To begin with, here is an excerpt from Man in the Mirror by Dr. Patrick Morley. I will comment on this excerpt afterward and add some things that I have learned recently.

You are very special to God. God loves you very much. Nothing you do will ever make you good enough for God to love you. Nothing you have done will ever make you bad enough for God not to forgive you. Your salvation does not depend on doing good works, yet genuine salvation results in good works. Good works don’t earn merit. Good works don’t lead to the cross, but are the evidence that you have the cross.

Make Sure Your Salvation

Let’s not take salvation for granted. Let’s not tell men who sit on their thumbs, “That’s okay. Don’t worry about it. God loves you anyway.” Instead, let’s exhort men to faith and the good deeds that demonstrate faith. That was Paul’s message, “I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven…. I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds” (Acts 26:19-20).

I do not agree that there is nothing that we need to do to be accepted by God. There is one very important thing that we need to do. Although there is nothing that you can do after accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, that is a very necessary thing to do. If you wish to know how to receive salvation, please write to me and I will share a prayer with you and what it means to be Born Again.

Dr. Steve McVey of Grace Walk (http://gracewalk.com) says that our good works are like those that should be a part of any relationship. He speaks about how wonderfully he treated his wife when he was dating her but then thought that they were not necessary after he had been married for several months. He was praying that God would improve his marriage by changing his wife. One day God told him that he needed to change Steve. Steve went back to treating his wife wonderfully and say God make changes in his wife. Their marriage became much better. Our good works come from a place of love for our savior Jesus Christ, for his father and for the Holy Spirit, our comforter.

Are you living in a way that shows your love for God and will improve your relationship with him? Are you doing these things out of your love for him or out of obligation? Do you accept the fact that God loves you and wants the best for you?

God bless you! Be a blessing to others.  :-)
